Bacup’s historic Masonic Hall, built in the 1800s, now opens its doors to a different kind of gathering, the searchers, the sceptics, and the quietly curious. Set in the heart of Bacup, Lancashire, this striking Victorian building is the new home for REAL Paranormal.

 

Its past is more suggestion than certainty: symbols in the stonework, whispers of ritual, rooms shaped for purpose yet light on explanation. Records are patchy, stories are second-hand, and much of what happened here remains a mystery. That absence is precisely the point. Where history is incomplete, mystery thrives and investigation becomes meaningful.

 

Here, we’ll do what we do best: arrive without assumptions, establish baselines, and let the building speak for itself. From lodge rooms to narrow corridors and quiet anterooms, we’ll Record, Explore, Analyse, and Learn—methodically, respectfully, and in real time. No theatrics. No scripts. Just careful work in an atmospheric setting built for secrecy and silence.

We're inviting you to come and discover the history of the Masonic Lodge.

With CCTV enabling us to document and back up all experiences you may have, join us to be a part of this journey of discovery.

We are accepting groups of up to 10 investigators with full access to four floors including The Cellar, The Attic and The Ceremony Hall.

  • Run your own investigation, with the REAL team observing from the hub.

  • Option to have your investigation guided by the REAL team if preferred.

  • REAL team can guide you through the night, assist when needed, and show you any moments of interest on playback.

INVESTIGATION TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1. General Information

  • Location hire is strictly for 10 guests maximum to ensure an intimate experience and minimal noise contamination.

  • Available hire dates: Fridays and Saturdays only.

  • Time of hire: 8:00pm – 1:00am.

  • Introductory hire fee: £300 per booking.

2. Types of Bookings

a) Paranormal Team Hire

  • The REAL Paranormal team will remain in the Observation Hub throughout the night, monitoring CCTV cameras and providing playback of any moments of interest upon request.

  • Teams are responsible for running their own investigation, equipment, and structure of the evening.

  • Optional: Paranormal Teams may choose to have their investigation guided by the REAL Team, either in full or in part.

b) Public Group Hire

  • For groups of individuals booking as members of the public, the REAL team will:

    • Be available in the Observation Hub to guide you through the night if required.

    • Provide assistance when necessary.

 

  • Play back any captured moments of interest from the CCTV system.

 

3. Equipment & Communication

  • Guests will be provided with two-way radios to communicate if groups split across different areas of the building.

  • Radios may also be used to contact the REAL Paranormal team at any time during the hire.

  • Guests are welcome to bring their own investigation equipment. REAL Paranormal accepts no responsibility for loss, theft, or damage to personal equipment.

 

4. Health & Safety

  • Guests must be aged 18 or over.

  • The building is historic; care must be taken at all times when moving around, especially in low light.

  • Sensible footwear and clothing are required.

  • No alcohol, recreational drugs, or anyone under the influence will be permitted.

  • Smoking and vaping are not permitted inside the building.

  • REAL Paranormal staff reserve the right to remove any guest acting in a dangerous, disruptive, or disrespectful manner without refund.

 

5. Booking & Payment

  • To confirm a booking, a non-refundable deposit of £100 is required at the time of booking.

  • The remaining balance (£200) must be paid no later than 14 days before the event date.

  •  If the balance is not received by this deadline, REAL Paranormal reserves the right to cancel the booking and retain the deposit.

  • Bookings are non-transferable without prior written consent from REAL Paranormal.

6. Cancellations & Changes

  • Customer cancellations: Deposits (£100) are strictly non-refundable. If the customer cancels after the balance has been paid, no refund will be issued. At REAL Paranormal’s discretion, dates may be rescheduled subject to availability and with at least 14 days’ notice.

  • REAL Paranormal cancellations: In the rare event that REAL Paranormal must cancel, a full refund of all monies paid (deposit and balance) or an alternative date will be offered. We accept no further liability for costs incurred (e.g., travel, accommodation).

 

7. Liability & Conduct

  • All guests attend at their own risk. REAL Paranormal and The Masonic Lodge accept no liability for injury, illness, loss, or damage to personal property.

  • Guests must follow all instructions from REAL Paranormal staff for safety reasons.

  • Any damage caused to the building, its contents, or equipment by guests will be chargeable to the booking party.

  • Paranormal activity cannot be guaranteed.

 

8. Filming, Content & Consent

  • The Masonic Lodge and REAL Paranormal events are subject to CCTV monitoring and recording for safety and evidential purposes.

  • Additional cameras, audio equipment, or other recording devices may also be in use.

  • All guests will be required to sign a Filming & Content Consent Form upon arrival, granting REAL Paranormal full rights to use any and all footage captured during the event. This includes, but is not limited to, CCTV footage, audio, and video recordings.

  • REAL Paranormal reserves the right to use this content for promotional, educational, and commercial purposes across all media platforms.

  • Guests may not withhold consent and still attend the event — signing the form is a condition of entry.

 

9. Data & Media (Guest Content)

  • Guests are permitted to take photographs and videos for personal or team use.

  • Any public sharing (e.g., on social media, websites, or YouTube) must not misrepresent the venue, the REAL Paranormal brand, or its staff.

  • Any intended commercial use (e.g., monetised channels, documentaries) must be agreed in writing with REAL Paranormal before the event.

 

10. Acceptance of Terms

By booking The Masonic Lodge through REAL Paranormal, you confirm that:

  • You have read and understood these Terms & Conditions.

  • You accept full responsibility for yourself and your group.

  • You agree to adhere to all health & safety requirements and the guidance of REAL Paranormal staff.

  • You agree to the use of your image, voice, and likeness in all media as captured during the event.

 

REAL Paranormal reserves the right to update or amend these Terms & Conditions at any time without prior notice.

🎥 Filming & Consent

All guests must sign the Filming & Content Consent Form upon arrival. This gives REAL Paranormal the right to use CCTV and any other recorded footage for promotional, educational, and commercial purposes. Attendance is conditional upon signing this form.
